Scholarship

We are thrilled to invite Charlotte-based Telugu High School Seniors to avail of the unique and wonderful opportunity to the TAGCA Senior Scholarship Program. The TAGCA Senior Scholarship Program is a notable award as a sign of community recognition, encouragement, and support for our Telugu kids moving into higher education paths. We are encouraging high school seniors to apply and take this as a wonderful opportunity while setting a great example for the upcoming freshman, sophomores, and juniors to continue to be the best of what they can be during their high school years. This program is launched to motivate the young talented American Telugu youth to continue to pridefully be connected to the Charlotte Telugu community for years to come.

TAGCA Scholarship Award selection is awarded to at least two deserving students based on two key criteria, decided by a Scholarship Judging Committee, and normally announced at one of our annual flagship events like Picnic or Dasara/Deepavali event.   

Selection Criteria:

Merit:  Proof of Student’s Overall Standing and Academic Performance at School including but not limited to: Overall Academic performance, achievements and GPA/other credentials (With no disciplinary action from school till date of award) – A resume/outline of the meritorious accomplishments Demonstrable Leadership Potential and other community skills via School Clubs or other regional and Charlotte Extra-Curricular Activities – Videos/included in the document above

Telugu Cultural Connection: Strong roots in Telugu language and culture via Demonstration of Telugu speaking skills (at the in-person interview). Demonstrates volunteer service, performances, and involvement in TAGCA activities over the years (can be included in the resume/any other document/links). Write an essay (Max 250 words) OR share a speech/poem/spoken word/humorous monologue/skit/youtube video OR share in your own creative way, expressing and describing Telugu culture in your life so far, and motivational aspects of growing up as Telugu American kid in Charlotte, and your involvement with TAGCA or any Telugu community in US or India. You can even write about a role model that inspires you from Telugu Community locally or globally (to be submitted by the deadline and discussed at the interview).

Eligibility Criteria:

Current high school seniors attending school in the US and ready to enter college pursuing higher education Must be a family member of TAGCA Life member

Submission Process:

An application can be submitted with the above documents to scholarship@tagca.org.TAGCA Judge Panel in collaboration with the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees will be reviewing all the applications in an objective manner leveraging the eligibility and selection criteria above. An in-person or virtual interview will be held for all the short-listed applicants.

 Deadline:  June 30th. Please note that no applications will be accepted after June 30th. Annual members/Non-members are welcome to become life members to take advantage of this opportunity.
